I love all the modern cuckoo clocks that I am seeing everywhere.

When I was growing up, my grandparents had
2 or 3 cuckoo clocks in their house.
My siblings and I spent a lot of time waiting for the top of the hour.
I think there was a little man following a little woman
when the cuckoo went off.

I have no idea what happened to those clocks.....I wish I did, because I think I'd be getting out my handy dandy can of spray paint and making them look as great as all these!

meatball stroganoff

I made this Cuisine at Home recipe (from the April 2010 issue)
last night for the first time,
and everyone loved it.

Meatball Stroganoff
makes 4 servings
Total time: 35 min
1 cup sliced button mushrooms (4 oz)
2 Tbsp. veg oil, divided
1 cup diced onions
1/2 tsp. paprika
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
4 cups dry egg noodles
1 Tbsp. butter
1/4 cup dry white wine
2 Tbsp. flour
2 cups chicken broth
Juice of 1/2 lemon
2 Tbsp. coarse-grained mustard
1/4 cup sour cream
1 Tbsp. chopped fresh dill
1 recipe mini-bacon meatballs (recipe to follow)
salt and pepper to taste

Boil water in a large pot for egg noodles.
Saute mushrooms in 1 Tbsp. oil in a nonstick skillet over med-high heat until browned, about 5 minutes. Transfer to plate.
Saute onion, paprika, and cayenne in remaining oil in same skillet until onion is soft, about 5 minutes.
Prepare noodles according to package directions, drain, toss with butter, and set aside.
Deglaze skillet with wine; simmer until liquid is nearly evaporated. Sprinkle flour over onions and stir.
Whisk in broth. Add lemon juice and mustard; simmer until thick, 8-10 minutes.
Stir in cooked mushrooms, sour cream, dill, and meatballs. Cook until meatballs are heated through. Season with salt and pepper.

Mini-Bacon Meatballs
makes 28 meatballs
Total time: 30 minutes
2 strips bacon diced
1/4 cup diced onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 lb. ground beef sirloin
1/4 cup dry bread crumbs
2 Tbsp. minced fresh parsley
1/2 tsp. paprika
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 egg, beaten

Preheat oven to 400. Coat a broiler pan with nonstick spray.
Saute bacon in a skillet over med-high heat until starting to crisp, about 4 minutes; remove and set aside on a paper-towel lined place. Pour off all but 1 Tbsp. drippings from skillet.
Saute onion in same skillet in reserved drippings over med heat until softened, about 3 minutes. Add garlic to skillet and cook, 1 minute.
Combine beef, bacon, onion mixture, bread crumbs, parsley, paprika, salt & pepper in a large bowl. Stir in beaten egg.
Form mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place on prepared broiler pan. Bake meatballs until fully cooked, about 10 minutes.

monday inspiration . fall fashion

I don't know about you, but I am on the lookout for some new fall outfits. I like the look of the lace mock neck top layered with the other fall pieces. I am pretty sure my shirt would be buttoned in look # 3....but I think all three looks are really cute and a little unexpected.

Total loveliness at little black rabbit on etsy.

The jewelry is mainly made with recycled or vintage materials
and is limited edition or one of a kind.

I am in love.

art-o-mat

Have you seen an Art-O-Mat vending machine? Well here it is. Art-O-Mats are retired cigarette vending machines that have been converted to vend one-of-a-kind art. For just $5 dollars you can choose from all the artists in each machine. The art work varies from mini-paintings, jewelry, and tiny sculptures. It is a great marketing tool for new artists...and for you a really fun way for you to get an original piece of art.

My daughter used the Art-O-Mat at Venue in the Ballard area of Seattle, and got this cute pair of earrings. What a great way to support artists. Click here to find an Art-O-Mat in your area.

vintage shop

This is mine!

I love checking out the cool vintage stuff at bellalulu on etsy.
There are always new goodies.....which can be a bad thing too...but the prices are good, so I justify it that way! Sound familiar?

I ordered this sign the other day.

rough luxe

In my online travels (sadly not my off-line travels)
I came upon these images from the
This is Rough Luxe:

Half rough, half luxury. A little bit of luxury in a rough part of London. A little bit of rough in a luxurious London. You are staying with us in our home, so just ask us for anything you need.

The look is a blending of old and new. They saved the existing distressed original walls...I think that is my favorite part. I would be pretty happy to stay here.....if I ever get to London. How about you?

monday inspiration . branches

via renest, flickr ohsohappytogether, apartment therapy

I love this time of year, and it is the perfect time
to bring a little of the outdoors in.

Who needs store bought decor when you can have a great look like this.

The branch hanging over the table is pretty great, don't you think?

What do you like to decorate with in the fall?

hounds and history

is this guy cute or what?

the pleading begins...
a beautiful day on the harbor

dogs everywhere

the Grand Opening of the Harbor History Museum

We had a great day. The weather ended up being sunny and perfect. We headed down to the Harbor for the annual Harbor Hounds charity walk. Over here, we have 3 cats (which I happen to think is plenty of animals.) But, once we arrive at Harbor Hounds, the girls start listing all the reasons that we really, really, really need a dog too.

Along with Harbor Hounds, the history museum was having their grand opening today. There were lots of interesting things to look at....a really fun Saturday! Hope yours was great as well!
